Enter the World of the Durbanville Grape

Add a drop of spring to your step at the annual Seasons of Sauvignon on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th October, 2014. Recognized as one of the country’s top terroirs for quality wines, the Durbanville wine valley will be hosting an array of Nitida Wines and 10 other leading wine producers showcasing their finest cultivars in the celebration of Sauvignon! Nitida_SOS_Logo Renowned for its rolling hills and Mediterranean climate, complimented by the moisture driven coastal mist and cooling southeaster from False Bay on the Indian Ocean, Durbanville wine valley finds itself perfectly positioned for the production of award winning cool-climate wines. “We carefully managed all our sauvignon blanc vineyards by partially opening up the canopy for optimal sun exposure thus guaranteeing healthy grapes, enhancing fruit development during ripening and ensuring a desirable balance of pyroxene (green) and thiols (tropical)” Says Nitida Wines Owner, Bernhard Veller. This year’s Seasons of Sauvignon at Nitida wine farm will be hosted (entrance free) at the family friendly restaurant, Tables@Nitida, which has recently undergone reconstruction and doubled in size. The venue still boasts a natural outdoor amphitheatre, ideal for live concerts and picnics on the lawn, offering ample room for jumping castles and other fun outdoor activities. A variety of stalls will be on display offering an array of delicious sweet and savoury treats for all tastes. Pre-booked picnics are also available at a cost of R240 (R300 per couple on the day). Guests can kick back and enjoy the live band with family and friends whilst sipping on their favourite Sauvignon Blanc. Additional cocktails will be made available for the more experimental pallet, including the Elderflower Sauvignon Blanc slush garnished with fresh mint.

By | Cape Town, Cape Town Restaurants, Entertainment News, Enviroment, Events, Leisure, Showcase Event | No Comments
With RSA as its home base, distribution company Aqua4Life launches the multi-award winning LifeStraw® in Southern Africa (RSA, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Transkei and Swaziland). The launch took place at Le Roi Beach Club in Camps Bay on Thursday 26 June, 2014. Produced by Swiss-based company, Verstergaard, this chemical free micro-filtration system instantly converts contaminated water into safe drinking water. Internationally and SABS tested LifeStraw® removes up to 99.99999% of bacteria, protozoan cysts and turbidity from water. The product range will be available to the South African retail market late July 2014 in the forms of LifeStraw® Personal (filters up to 1000litres), LifeStraw® Go (filters up to 1000litres) and LifeStraw® Home unit (filters up to 4500litres). Each product offers environmentally friendly, cost and energy saving solutions. Upon purchase of any LifeStraw® product, Vestergaard contributes clean water for a child in Africa for the period of one year through their humanitarian Social Responsibility program. “We have a plethora of projects lined up for the implementation of LifeStraw® in poorer communities with little or no access to any water sources. Our foremost quest in southern Africa is to save and change the lives of those most desperately in need of clean, running water. We now need role players to step up and help us change those people’s lives.” says Aqua4Life MD Nico Germishuizen. Amongst a magnitude of accolades LifeStraw® was named “Best Invention of 2005” by Time magazine, “Innovation of the Year” by Esquire; Forbes dubbed it “one of the ten things that will change the way we live”, and Saatchi & Saatchi awarded it for “World Changing Ideas” in 2008. Aqua4Life has also partnered with various other service providers including Rotary Int. (Clean Water & Sanitation) and Human Moments. It also supplies humanitarian products (which filter up to 100,000litres) to Southern African Governments, GIZ, US Aid, Red Cross and WHO, as well as partnering with Corporate SA via CSI funding initiatives to implement clean water solutions to those who most need it.
